How long reading takes, and leaving while it runs
A few minutes for most documents, and several for longer ones. You can leave the screen and come back.
Reading a record from photos or scans of its pages takes a few minutes for most documents, and several minutes for longer ones. Most of that time is spent studying all the pages together before anything is written out.
The reading screen gives an estimate for your number of pages and shows each step as it happens: preparing the pages, sending them to be read, studying them, writing out what was found, checking that it's one visit, and placing the redaction boxes. It's there so you can see what's happening, not because you need to watch it.
You can leave at any point. The read keeps going without the screen, and Add record on the car's page brings you back to it, whether it's still running or already finished and waiting for you.
A record you never save is discarded after 5 days, along with everything uploaded to it, because until it's saved it still holds the unredacted originals. Come back and finish it before then.
If something goes wrong partway, the screen says so and offers a way on. A refused document comes with the reason, and a page that couldn't be read asks for a clearer photo.
