Adding a record from a previous owner's documentation
Paperwork from before you owned the car is marked as inherited, not folded into your own ownership.
If you have invoices from before you owned the car, add them as usual. On the details step, Vinfirm suggests whose ownership the record belongs to from its date, and you can switch it to A previous owner.
Inherited records are grouped separately on the timeline, as documents that came with the car, rather than being attributed to you.
How many owners the car had before you isn't something Vinfirm can know, and the timeline says so rather than guessing at a number.
Inherited records count toward the car's totals and its record count the same as your own.
